A group workout could be a great option if you’re just starting your fitness journey or you need to switch up your workout routine. Group workouts tend to increase motivation and accountability and can also unveil a person’s competitive side to try to reach new personal records. More than anything, group workouts can be super fun, so we’re sharing 3 ways to have fun with group workouts.
Host a family workout session
Family workout sessions are a great way to bond with your loved ones and create memories while getting in shape and enhancing your life. VeryWellFamily.com says:
There are many reasons to start a family fitness challenge and even more fitness goals to pursue. Some families seek to do a fitness challenge together for the sheer fun of it or out of competitiveness. Possible goals might be to work up to running a set distance at a set pace or to prepare for a fitness-related trip or event.
Other families may want to address a specific health or fitness concern, such as eating habits, screen time, inactivity, or weight loss. Some families want to jumpstart their athletic selves and/or simply to build healthier lifestyles. Others hope to boost family connection, physical activity, and screen-free interaction.
Hire a trainer to lead a family workout session and start small by involving your immediate family – kids and adults! You can expand the idea to local family members and loved ones or even bring the workout session to an annual family gathering like a family reunion or family trip.
Attend a local adult field day event
Adult fitness events are a great way to get in shape and network within your local city. Think about it – you can get the opportunity to meet new people who share the same interests as you and get in shape in the process. If you’ve moved to a new city or you’re looking for a new personal trainer, research local community events and adult field day events so you can scout for a new trainer and make new friends.
Register for a 5K and join a run club to train for the race
Running is a great way to tone your body and get in a good cardio session, but some people take it to the next level by signing up to run a marathon. If you know anyone who has successfully run a marathon, you know a participant must train for months, and sometimes, without a support system, it can be lonely and possibly unmotivating. A fun way to prepare for a marathon is to join a local run club. There are hundreds of run clubs across the country – groups of people who enjoy running with a group of new (and sometimes old) friends. By joining a run club, you will periodically mix up your running routine and run alongside like-minded people – literally!
