Most of our goals consist of a mix of financial, family, career, and fitness goals. We are championing everyone to reach those goals (especially the fitness goals); as a company, we understand that you must have the right mindset to achieve any goal.
Are you curious about what having the “right” mindset means? Are you unsure about how to achieve and maintain the right mindset? Here are a few tips on how you can actively maintain the right mindset:
What is mindset?
Merriam-Webster defines mindset as a mental attitude inclination. Mindset can influence how you see yourself and the world around you positively and negatively. You can create your own limiting beliefs or expand your mindset depending on your choices and the information you take in each day.
How do you define the right mindset?
Like fingerprints, every person’s background and experiences are different, which directly affects how they see themselves and experience life. The uniqueness of our lives means that some additional tweaks and adjustments have to be made to reach personal goals in life; however, some basic principles can help every person aiming to capture and keep the right mindset. At NP, we aim to help people perform better in life, so we can agree with this assessment from Compete to Create:
A high-performing mindset is available to everyone, without exclusion of experience, age, gender, ethnicity, or social-economic status. It’s not reserved for the athletically or intellectually gifted. It’s not about winning, or being “the best,” or getting world-class results. It’s about the ability to create the most optimized internal posture for you to be your best. A high-performance mindset is one that is authentic to you — and at the same time is optimal for a specific circumstance.
We want everyone to perform at a high level because it not only impacts their lives, it impacts everyone around them. This means that you doing your part to improve your mindset can benefit your family, friends, co-workers, and even strangers you encounter each day. To perform at a high level, you have to be motivated to maintain a solid and inherent belief that your purpose and contribution to society are worthwhile and make a difference.
What are the steps to achieving the right mindset?
Now that you understand the importance of having the right mindset in life, you need action steps to get there or maintain the progress you’ve made thus far to take this mindset into 2022. We’ve researched the proper steps and found these:
- Add a three-letter word “yet” to your vocabulary. Inc. com says, “ Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck (via Inc.com) says, “Putting in certain phrases like ‘not yet’ or ‘yet’ can boost motivation. ‘I’m not a math person – yet’ or ‘I can’t do this – yet,’ it puts their fixed mindset statement into growth mindset context of learning over time.”
- Forgive yourself. Constantly beating yourself up about things that have gone wrong won’t change them. Tell yourself that you’re forgiven for your mistakes and allow yourself to move on.
- Learn from the past. The past is behind you, and no matter how badly things went, there is nothing you can do to change them. Whenever you feel negative thoughts about the past come up, replace them with positive thoughts about the future. (Source:www.rncentral.com)
- Add a fitness routine to your schedule. At Nesfield Performance, we train our clients while keeping our company’s five pillars in mind. The five pillars include regeneration, nutrition, physical, lifestyle, and mind. Studies show that exercise can enhance your positive self-image and boost your self-esteem. Regardless of age, gender, weight, or size, it can elevate your self-worth. Clearly, there are several mental health benefits to exercising, and of course, as a performance and fitness coaching company, NP is a strong supporter of maintaining a regular fitness routine. Some people find it hard to stick to a fitness routine, especially early on in the process; however, you can use these tips to maintain a positive mindset while working out and if you need some extra support, the NP Team can help so reach out to us to review your options.
We cannot control what the world throws at us, but we can control how we adapt to challenges, who we decide to be and how we can actively make changes. Every year is an opportunity to grow, but growth comes through the small changes every day. Your daily habits create the atmosphere for you to live an optimal lifestyle, and that starts with your strongest muscle – your mind. With the right mindset, you will have the ability to grow and be clear on the vision of the lifestyle you want to live.
The NP Team is open and willing to walk beside you to help you to maintain the right mindset throughout the year.
